Im just going to say flat out that this post has no real purpose. If you're looking for mind stimulation you will not get it here. I merely have came upon a realization and felt like documenting it.
The day we got back from Disneyland we were so tired we decided to just get a grinder sandwich from Winco when we went to get milk, bananas, etc. While Kirk waited in the car with the kiddos, I decided to be a loving and thoughtful wife and grabbed a 6 pack of seasonal brews for the guy. After checking out and pushing my cart to the car I realized something:
The cashier did not card me.
Here's the thing; I don't mind getting older. In fact, Im looking forward to getting older and going through this life with my hubby, watching my kids grow, experiencing life with friends. Getting old doesn't bother me,. Honest. But still....I was stunned. Im 26, nearing 27. Aren't they supposed to card you if you look under 40 or something?! I decided Id just chalk it up to a busy Saturday and the lady just decided to trust me.
But then, a week later, Kirk and I went to dinner (kid free) and ordered drinks. Again, the dude did not card me. Now it was really starting to set in. Who are we kidding, my hubby definitely passes for over 21 (he's 30, receding hair line, beard, etc.) so when Im with him and don't get carded, I assume its because of him. But it made me think about Winco, then dinner....oh my gosh. Im actually getting old. Doesn't help that a friend posted pictures of a wedding she just photographed with whom the bride was a gal I clear as day remember holding at church as a newborn on her first Sunday. Its all just sort of hitting me.
Now, I know, Im not ACTUALLY old, but Im officially on the climb. And again, Im totally fine with it, but it still kind of catches you off guard when you first realize it.
Of course I decided to go through some photos and see how much I've really aged.

After going through nearly 10 years of pictures, I realized something: I've lived a lot of life in the last 10 years. Its no wonder I may have aged....a little. Ah well....let's raise our un-carded mojitos and have cheers to wrinkles, dark circles, and stretch marks, shall we??!!
Oh, I also came across this gem of brunette me (this is what happens when your sister is in beauty school). Look at those beautifully smooth under eyes. Clearly, I now need to invest in some serious eye cream. Sigh.
